SHAMU ACROSS THE CURRICULUM

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Take an extraordinary adventure into the world of killer whales as you make SeaWorld your classroom. We'll discuss killer whale adaptations, natural history and behaviors. Then we'll gather multi-disciplinary tools to find out how to relate the ocean's top predator to elementary classroom activities in math, writing, science, social studies and more.

Participants in this workshop will receive 4 hours of continuing professional education (CPE) through the State Board of Education (SBEC).

These special camps are four days long. Teachers will be able to:
•	Gather the latest research, activities, curriculum materials and resources
•	Gain knowledge on ocean environments and ecology, animal behavior and training, rescue care and rehabilitation
•	Engage in hands-on experiences such as interacting with beluga whales and preparing animal diets
•	Earn 30 hours of continuing professional education (CPE) through the State Board of Education (SBEC)
•	Schedule yourself and your colleagues for a private Teacher Camp on dates that are convenient for you, or attend one of our pre-scheduled dates. See the camp description for details.
