Dear
Applicant:
Thank
you for your interest in the 2008 SeaWorld Adventure
Camp Internship programs, sponsored by the Education
Department at SeaWorld Orlando Adventure Park. This
fast-paced experiential learning opportunity is
designed for undergraduate students who have completed
their sophomore year and are in good standing
at a recognized academic institution. Applicants
should be seeking degrees in education, science,
or recreation. This is a paid Internship,
and students may additionally arrange to receive
academic credit through their faculty advisor.
SeaWorld
Orlando has two camp programs that are accredited
by the American Camping Association - Day Camp
and Resident Camp. Day Camp programs focus on learning
about animals and their habitats at SeaWorld.
Day Camp Interns are co-counselors and are responsible for helping to facilitate creative crafts, games, activities, behind-the-scenes visits as well as visits to SeaWorld's shows and attractions. Resident
Camp programs are multi-day, overnight trips to
field locations such as the Florida Keys
and Florida's diverse east coast. These programs immerse middle and high school students in the study
of marine science through activities such as snorkeling,
canoeing, and exploring the challenges and rewards
of working with animals. Interns with current
American Red Cross lifeguard certification and
who are able to pass the Resident
Camp Swim Test may serve as co-counselors
for Resident Camp programs. Both Internship
programs begin on May 26, 2008, with the Day Camp
Internship ending on August 17, 2008 and the Resident
Camp Internship ending on August 23, 2008. (See Application and FAQ for more information.)
