How do I choose the right internship? What will I be doing?

Each Internship has primary responsibilities; however all three Internships will overlap in some duties. If you're accepted for the Day Camp Internship, you'll be assisting with our week-long day camp programs for campers in pre-K through 8th grade. You will assist other Counselors with all aspects of the class from preparing the class materials, registering campers, teaching classes, and assisting camp management with daily operations. Some of the miscellaneous duties could include Airport shifts where you're responsible for escorting campers safely to and from Orlando International Airport or Runner shifts which include daily operational duties such as managing lunches, delivering supplies and other duties as required by Camp Management.

If you're selected for either Resident Camp Internship, you'll be responsible for all the above duties as well as assisting other Counselors with off-site programs for campers in grades 5th-12th. These programs are 6 days in length and include staying with the campers for the duration of that time. Only the Resident Camp 2 Interns will also assist with the 11-day Florida Keys program.

Is this a paid Internship?

Yes. Unlike most educational based Internships, this Internship is paid. Pay will be based on your level of education.

What are the normal working hours for these Internships?

The number of hours worked per week will vary depending on the needs of the camp. Traditionally, the Day Camp Interns will be working an average of 20-40+ hours per week. These hours may include weekend, evening, early morning and even overnight shifts. Resident Camp Interns may be asked to work 30-150+ hours per week. Because of the nature of the Resident camps, Interns are required to stay with the campers for the entire duration of their camp.

Can I apply for all the Internships?

Yes. If you would like to apply for any/all of the Internships, please check all appropriate boxes on the application form. There are a limited number of positions available for our Internships, and only a very few candidates will be selected for either of the Resident Camp Internship programs.

Why is lifeguard certification required for the Resident Camp Internship?

All certifications must be completed by May 25, 2008.
